Blogging well, and regularly, is a big time commitment. So, I occassionally think about whether to blog and what to blog about. My current reasons for blogging are:
- Building personal brand (letting those that are interested know how I think about things and what I think about)
- Shine a light on topics that are particularly interesting to me
- Contribute to the greater good
- Build a (public) diary (so that I can in the future review what I did and what interested me)
I’m sure that this list will evolve over time; it seems rather unfocused to me.
BTW, Here are a couple of great posts about effective blogging:

- Learn web basics.
- Provide site search.
- Write with a voice.
- Post regularly.
- Be social.
